Message from the Chairman of the Board

Bienvenidos Bem Vindos Welcome! to the Canadian Council for the Americas.

Welcome to the CCA, the principal business to business link between Canada and Latin America and the Caribbean for more than three decades.

Canadian business has been active in Latin America and the Caribbean for more than a century. While Canadian investment and trade in the traditional extractive industries is strong, Canadian companies of all sizes have expanded into many other sectors in the region.

With the increased involvement of the Canadian and provincial governments in strengthening ties with the region, Canadian business stands to benefit from new opportunities and initiatives, such as several pending free trade agreements. South-north trade and investment is also a growing phenomenon with many companies form the region exporting to and investing in Canada. Business also benefits from and contributes to increasing social interaction through immigration flows, educational exchanges and cultural activities.

As Canadian relationships with the hemisphere expand, Canadian business is increasingly looking to the CCA to keep it abreast of the changing dynamics, and to present programs that enable Canadian business to meet their business and political counterparts in the region. We strive to maintain the CCA at the centre of the issues that affect Canadian hemispheric trade and investment by hosting business to business meetings, organizing symposia on critical issues, and advocating on major policy issues on behalf of our members.
