On March 1st, the Canadian Council for the Americas hosted a private meeting with Álvaro Jana, Chile’s vice minister of trade and general director of International Economic Relations with the Chilean Foreign Ministry. CCA members and a handful of select guests exchanged views with Mr. Jana on international trade and investment opportunities between Chile and Canada, and areas for increase cooperation. Specific topics included advancing the Trans-Pacific Partnership negotiations, of which both Canada and Chile are members, and the growing importance of the Pacific Alliance, made up of Chile, Mexico, Colombia and Peru. Canada recently became an Observer to the Pacific Alliance. Chile’s Ambassador to Canada, Mr. Roberto Ibarra, also in attendance.
