CARICOM public private partnership in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, June 10 and 11, 2013

At our recent CCA event held in April 2013, at the Royal York Hotel, Toronto, ON, Prime Minister Stephen Harper, announced the joint hosting of a PPP seminar in Trinidad and Tobago as a “business-to-business event that will bring together representatives from government, the private sector, international financial institutions and multilateral development banks from Canada, Trinidad and Tobago, the broader CARICOM and international community to share best practices in this field and how they can be applied further in their jurisdictions.”

In 2010, Canada’s bilateral merchandise trade with the CARICOM countries totalled $2.4 billion, consisting of $0.8 billion in Canadian exports to, and $1.6 billion in imports from, the CARICOM countries. Canadian companies interested in doing business with the CARICOM region are invited to be a part of a Canadian delegation led by the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) to Trinidad and Tobago from June 10 to 11, 2013 during Caribbean Investment Week. The PPP will feature Caribbean Ministers, Investment Project Holders and Senior Government Officials from the fifteen (15) CARICOM countries (Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, the Bahamas, St. Kitts and Nevis, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Suriname).

The Caribbean Investment Week is made up of two events, the Caribbean Investment Forum (CIF), held from June 10 – 11th 2013 and the Trade and Investment Convention (TIC), held from June 12th – 15th 2013.  Both events present an excellent opportunity for you to network your businesses and introduce economic and trading opportunities to Trinidad &Tobago and CARICOM markets and vice versa.  The Canadian delegation will also be invited to a VIP reception on June 12th, hosted by H.E. Philip Buxo, High Commissioner for the visiting members of the Canadian delegation, representatives from CARICOM Member States and Trinidad and Tobago Senior Government Officials. RSVP required.
