Chinese Business and Political Strategy in Latin America, Sept. 17

The Canadian Council for the Americas, in collaboration with the Inter-American Dialogue, hosted a panel discussion of China’s business and political strategy in Latin America and the Caribbean. China is positioned to take over the EU as Latin America’s second largest trading partner. The July visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping demonstrates a maturing relationship with the region that deepens and extends beyond commercial interests. The nature of China’s changing relationship with the region, and implications for investors, was a key focus of this session.
