The CCA hosted political and business insider, Dario Vargas, for a discussion of the May 25 Colombian presidential election.
Dario Vargas is the founder of Dattis Communications, a multifaceted business advisory firm and the largest strategic communications firm in Colombia. He regularly advises CEO’s and political leaders on a broad range of strategic issues. He advises, among others, the CEO’s of GRUPO SURA, Siemens, ProBranquilla, Grupo Argos, Refineria de Cartagena (REFICAR) and Nutresa. He also advises the mayors of Medellin and Barranquilla, the Federal Ministries of Transport & Public Roads, Health and Social Protection, and Education, and the Head of the National Planning Department.
Mr. Vargas served previously as communications advisor to Presidents Gaviria and Pastrana, chief communications consultant to the Liberal Party and its presidential candidate, Rafael Pardo (2006 and 2010), and advisor to the Conservative Party (2012-2013) and the mayor of Bogota.
An economics graduate of the Universidad de Los Andes, with postgraduate studies in film and television at NYU, Mr. Vargas is a frequent commentator in Colombian media and a columnist for Portafolio. He was previously a correspondent for RCN and the magazine, Cromos.
