Fiona Mackie is Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean at The Economist Intelligence Unit, where she leads the company’s political and policy analysis, macroeconomic forecasts, and sovereign and operational risk assessments for the region. Her work has focused in particular on sovereign and operational risk, financial market development, and international trade.

Fiona holds degrees in political science and financial economics from the University of Chicago and the University of London (SOAS). She is a frequent commentator on Latin America and an authoritative, sought-after speaker with more than 20 years’ experience in economic and political analysis of the region. She has presented The EIU’s views on Latin America and the global economy to many private-sector clients and to a variety of international organisations, including the UN, the World Bank, the World Trade Organisation, and the Inter-American Development Bank.
