Mr. Robert Almeida has over 25 years experience as an investor and operator. Mr. Almeida is a Managing Partner with Portland Private Equity and helped establish AIC Caribbean Fund, a $225 million committed capital private equity focused on investing in the Caribbean. Portland Holdings is one of the largest investors in the Caribbean and Portland Private Equity would be the largest private equity manager focused on investing in the Caribbean. Mr. Almeida joined the Portland group in July 2002 and was a co-manager of the AIC Advantage Funds, public equity mutual funds which exceeded $1 billion of assets under management and which invested globally. Mr. Almeida serves as Group Chief Executive Director of NCB Financial Group, Chairperson of the Board at Guardian Group and National Commercial Bank of Jamaica. He led the group’s founding investment in Columbus International Inc., and served as Director of Kingston Wharves Limited, one of two operators at the busy port of Kingston Jamaica.

Prior to joining Portland, Mr. Almeida spent four years at CIBC, a leading Canadian bank where he was Senior Vice President, Electronic Commerce; President, President’s Choice Financial; Chairman, Amicus Bank Canada; and Chief Officer, Product, Marketing and Strategy, Amicus Holdings USA. During this time, Mr. Almeida led the successful launch of an innovative banking venture in Canada that acquired over 1 million customers and close to Cdn$8 billion of funds under management. Prior to joining CIBC, Mr. Almeida spent 10 years at Loblaw Companies Limited, most recently as Vice President, Development and Reengineering.
